The right lip balm for a perfect kissable mouth
Everyone wants to have a beautifully groomed kissable mouth – but winter presents us with particular challenges! If you look in the mirror at the moment, you can often see them – the dry, often cracked areas on our lips. The sensitive and thin skin on our lips suffers particularly in winter – we breathe, drink, eat, speak and our lips are constantly coming into contact with moisture, which evaporates and dries out these areas even more. This is exacerbated by the constant change between warm heated air and cold outside air. Who hasn’t experienced this unpleasant, often tense feeling, which we then like to intensify by running our tongue over it and moistening our lips – the lips feel supple again in the short term, but the drying out is actually intensified even more – a small vicious circle
People like to kiss beautiful and soft lips
Everyone wants a beautiful kissable mouth and soon it will be the peak season for kissing again – carnival time. But not only for the kissing moment, cracked and chapped lips are also annoying in everyday life, feel uncomfortable and look unattractive. In this condition, the lips have been deprived of their natural protection. The skin on the lips is much thinner than the rest of our facial skin and does not have its own protective lipid film, so we need to provide it with sufficient moisture and support.
Lip care – the choice is huge
As with other skin problems, the range of products is very diverse, so what does our skin really need? It is now clear to everyone that parabens, mineral oils and preservatives should be avoided. After all, the lips should be protected, cared for and not put under additional strain. Perfumed products are also not necessarily recommended, as many people nowadays react to them with allergies. Honey is often mentioned as a tried and tested, natural tip, which is said to have a healing effect when applied thinly to the lips. There is a small problem with this: it also tastes good and often tempts you to lick or moisten your lips. Moisturizing ingredients are very important here, such as active algae ingredients – they improve the skin’s elasticity, promote moisture penetration, have a regenerating and invigorating effect. Shea butter is also rich in vitamins and glycerine, protects against dehydration, temperature and sun exposure and gives the skin a pleasant, smooth feel, while vitamin E increases the skin’s defenses and delays premature skin aging. Whether in summer or winter, lips should also always be protected against UV rays, as UV radiation can be a trigger for herpes in addition to its drying effect – a rather unpleasant side effect.
A tip from the beauty expert
If you have dry lips, you don’t have to give up color altogether. It is now known that lipsticks with synthetic oils as ingredients dry out the lips. You should therefore look for lipsticks with nourishing, moisturizing and protective components, so that the color still looks beautiful on the lips even after a few hours and does not form unsightly, reinforced small lip lines. With this in mind, here’s to a beautiful, well-groomed lip season!
